Best Kept Secret in Granada La Oliva is a small little shop that sells high end Spanish wine, olive oil and a number of high end items, but I wanted to create a fan page for this place for its small private meals. Francisco, the shops owner, is this phenomenal person that will welcome you in like you are old friends. He speaks great English and French and is patient for those who want to try out what little Spanish they actually have. He can do everything from a 1 euro olive oil tasting with fresh bread, to a 10 course meal with a wine flight for 30 euros. He is actually just starting to give 10 euro meals that are more than enough and at times will even cook the meal in front of you. The shop is relatively small, but could probably fit as many as 15 people.
I have actually gone here a number of times for meals. The first time I went with my family when they traveled to see me in Spain. We called ahead of time and reserved a 2pm lunch with 5 other people and my 10 month old son. I think he prefers to have at least 6 people. It was a spectacular time of eating and enjoying. It was intimate because he closed the shop and explained all the courses and wines. He even gave us a little history of some on the wine and olive industry in Spain. We paid 30 Euros each, but wow was it worth it! There were over 10 courses and at least 4 wines. There are no menus, but after we tried the food, we didn't care. He did a great job of combining the flavors and tastes.
Be sure to call ahead (even a week or two) in advance to make sure you can secure your spot. I would also recommend coming here at the beginning of your trip if you are traveling because Francisco knows all the great places that aren't touristy.
I HIGHLY recommend La Oliva!
